Meditation for Stress Relief

by , in

editation is a technique that has been used for thousands of years to bring a sense of calm and well-being to those who practice it. If practiced correctly, it can provide clarity of thought and inner harmony.

Meditation for stress-relief and relaxation purposes is most effectively performed by sitting in a quiet, clean space. Quieting the mind, focusing on your breath and eliminating thoughts as they arise are common techniques.

Some people like to visualize on something while they focus; others seek to clear their mind completely.

Taking Some Quiet Time for Yourself
It can be hard to find a quiet corner to spend a few moments in during our day, but really this is vital to our overall health. This is where meditation can become a useful tool and your new best friend. It can be difficult to turn off all electronic gadgets, and "unplug" if you will, for a while, but it's important that you do.

Even well-meaning workmates and family members can overwhelm with constant chatter, leaving your own mind with no 'free' time. Not having to listen to the constant barrage of noise from voices, music, traffic, animals, etc. can be truly liberating. During meditation, stress hormones and cortisol levels decrease and a sense of calmness is induced.

We have become so addicted to our radios, televisions, tablets and smartphones, that for the majority of the day, our brains are anything but calm and quiet. It is no wonder so many people have become addicted to their medications and drugs of choice. Wouldn't it be a more productive, relaxed and interesting world if people were addicted to meditation instead?

Focusing Energy on a Single Point
Start by focusing on a single idea or word when practicing meditation for stress relief purposes. Some prefer to focus on a sound or visualize an image. It is important that where you decide to practice is tidy, clean and uncluttered for maximum benefits to be attained. Sitting with eyes closed, in the middle of a quiet and clean place, is best.

Trying to clear your mind and release thoughts as soon as they enter, if they do not align with your focus, can be tricky at first. It is common for people to feel frustrated when they begin meditating as they think it will be easy to quiet their mind, only to find that numerous thoughts come flying in and around out of seemingly nowhere and completely unrelated. This is normal.

We spend the majority of our day on autopilot and processing so much information simultaneously; trying to focus on one, single thing for any length of time can seem hard.

Our poor minds, which are usually under constant bombardment, see this quiet time as an opportunity to think about the things you have not made time to think about earlier. With practice, your mind will trust that you will be giving it future "quiet time" and will allow you to quiet your thoughts.

Persist with practice and give yourself kudos for every extra minute you make it! Once you master this wonderful practice you will truly be able to exercise greater control over the symptoms of stress.

is found within. That is, you must go into your mind and seek it. When you get to a certain point you will no longer have to seek it. It will be there every moment of everyday to tap into for great knowledge that you can use in everyday situations. We all have fractures that appear within because of the everyday. It is up to each of us to release control back to the universal principle that everything is being taken care of and every situation is perfect just for us.

Like a diamond, flaws can be a good thing. Each flaw allows us a challenge to learn or an obstacle to overcome. This happens by accepting it for what it is. By saying you can do something means that you are giving yourself an opportunity to learn. Opportunity surrounds us. We must learn how to watch for it whenever we are out and about our daily business, whatever that is for you. By keeping an eye open on how you can show love to those around you is giving yourself the chance to gather more and more opportunities.

Nothing always becomes something for us to be able to understand. We continue to flow forward in our life. That means there is no stopping that continuation. It doesn't matter whether you are being a parent or going to work. We all continue moving forward living a life, furthering our species and moving forward. We should have no time to think about hurting one another when there is so much exploration in the physical and whatever other realm there may be. What is the point of hurting one another when with peace we could live passionately.

Amounting to greatness, gathering power, being the wealthiest, having the most spiritual thoughts is nothing without the meaning we give it. When there is love a deep warmth moves through the body. That love is our higher being, our spirit, our best part of ourselves that is connected to that world. In martial arts, a person moves without thinking. It is a combination of mechanics of the human body and the spirit of the fighter. When one person moves the other flows and vice versa. Our bodies continuou

Five Unknown Facts About Meditation

by , in

The concept of meditation:

Meditation has become a common term among the society right now. It has spread its roots deep down starting from the corporate world to the common mass.

The number of yoga institutions has boomed recently and numerous terms for meditation practices are coined to attract people in this path.

The categories of meditation are several in numbers. Some are listed below.

Classical: This is the generic one which doesn't follow any specific guidelines. It generally emerges from belief and personal trend.
Instructed: These are personally prescribed by spiritual guides or Guru's and follows a definite method.
Guided: In this process; somebody gives live instructions (vis-à-vis or through digital media) to a single or a group of people to get into a trance state where thoughts seems to slow down and mind becomes dormant.
Mantra: Chanting of a specific syllable (e.g. "OM", "HUM" or some vague sounds) repeatedly stops the chatter of the mind and dissolute it. This method is quite prevalent in Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity etc. and avidly followed by the common people.
Zen: This meditation is also known as zazen. It was done in a seated position (As the word Zazen depicts: Seated meditation). It is widely practiced in Japan and China but its origins connect to the Buddhist in India.
Vipassana: It is "Pali" word which means clarity of insight. This method gives stress on breathing pattern or on conscious breathing. This is effective is stilling the mind.
There are many more techniques like "Metta", "Self enquiry", "Kriya Yoga", "Tao", "Qigong" and so on.

Whatever the techniques may be; the goal is the most important of all. But, there are few misconceptions related to this wonderful faculty. I shall try to clear five amongst them.

The Myths

1) Mediation can be done!

The term meditation relates to the term "Dhyana" in Sanskrit. "Dhyana" is the seventh stage of the "Patanjali Yoga Sutra".[1]

Patanjali Yoga Sutra is the most ancient and vivid documentation depicting elaborately about the psycho-physiological connections and analyses the minute strata's of mind and intellect.

According to this 8-fold system, meditation (Dhyana) is the stillness of mind with an active consciousness. So, the "I" awareness slowly dissolute into the consciousness and merges into one (The last step: Samadhi). So meditation couldn't be done. We go into it or rather slip into meditation. What we consider as meditation is actually the practice of concentration with an active mind. The state of meditation can be achieved but cannot be practiced. So; to earn the desired level, start practicing concentration religiously.

2) It can be practiced solely!

It was well understood that without having a sound body; it is not recommended to practice meditation (read concentration) because it may lead to mental numbness.

This dormancy can provide a blankness inside which is basically due to the inactivity of mental conditions. It can be compared to a self-hypnotic condition which eventually results into sleepiness. The brain gets confused about the physical and mental inactivity and treats this state as a pre-sleep stage. It secrets melatonin hormone which naturally induces sleep as it does when anybody prepares to sleep.

This state is sometimes related with actual mediation but it is quite far from it.

So, to get into the basic of meditation; one should have a sound body and a sound sleep. Proper nutritious food helps in getting into a productive meditation.

A bit of freehand exercise, proper food and sleep and cultivating dispassion; when maintained regularly can lead to the goal.

3) Meditation is a religious practice

This is a practice to still our mind. A still and focused mind leads to a wide awareness. This awareness fires up the conscience (Viveka) which becomes a vehicle for inward journey. This "Viveka" is also a tool for realizing the oneness within.

This journey is common for all, the path may vary. So, practicing concentration for achieving meditative state does not fall into any classifications based on religion or belief.

You are fully free to choose you path if you want to walk independently. You will reach there, irrespective of any religion.

4) The practice takes huge time to provide benefits

This may vary with the effort given but the benefits of practicing concentration generate immediate effects on psycho-physiological system. Within a week, a devoted practitioner shall feel the lowering of blood pressure (if they have), release of stress, diminishing anxiety and an elevated experience of serenity within. It also boosts memory, feeling of empathy. It regulates sleep cycle for proper cleansing of the body toxin. It eventually develops the persona with a more elevated sense of humanity.

5) It is difficult!

This point should have come first but I mentioned it as the last point because, it is the ultimate hurdle to cross. Things go tougher gradually so this is the last one to overcome. I am sure you can!

No! Practicing concentration is not difficult. On the contrary, it can be one of the easiest things you can do. It doesn't need anything other than your time, a quiet and little space and YOU.

You have all the tools ready within your body and mind to reach to the utmost level. In this process; you have to do nothing but to sit still and observe your thoughts without getting attached to it. Stilling a mind can be a challenge and we can end up losing the battle. So, it has been stated in the scriptures to stop fighting with wandering thoughts and observe it with absolute detachment as we look up to the passing clouds without any emotional connection.

This observing state of our mind shall bring forth the dispassion towards the bubbling thoughts and these thoughts will gradually fade away leaving behind a still unstirred mind; ready for its inward voyage.

Wrapping up

I hope that the author has more or less managed to clear the false doubts and myths about meditation. It is easy, it is robust and it is for you.

Start practicing it from today. You shall be overwhelmed with its benefits.

[1] Patanjali Yoga Sutra - It is a text on yoga based on "Samkhya Darshana" (a path of Indian philosophy) in which the eight fold path of yoga has been described vividly. It starts from our daily life manners slowly leading to inner truth. This is separate from Vedantic system of meditation practice. "Yogi Yagyavalkam" written by rishi Yagyavalka is also based on eight methods aligning with Vedantic concepts.[Authors note]

Deepayan Choudhury is associated with Vedantic philosophy for a good amount of time and delivered lectures to few philosophical societies in Kolkata, India. He is also a poet and many of his compositions were published in print magazines mostly in his regional language. His poetry was selected three consecutive times in the "Poetry World", a collection of world poetries.

You Think Meditation Is A Waste Of Time? Read On

by , in

u think meditation is a waste of time, your day is filled to the rim and the mere thought of adding yet another thing to your already overstuffed day is simply too much to contemplate.

In a world that is full of distractions you may be forgiven to think like this.

How often do you not follow through with a promise because something else just got in the way, or you simply forgot? If you follow your urges and get distracted easily you are not working efficiently, rather you are wasting your precious time.

Many executives and many millionaires swear by the power of regular meditation.

Any form of meditation calms the mind and reduces stress. However, guided transformational meditation goes way beyond that: It helps you design your life.

For example if you yield to your impulses, and who doesn't you can set the intention in the meditative state to change this behaviour and become more mindful. You are taken through a process to feel the new behaviour you want to adopt.

Meditation doesn't stop mishaps, but it makes life run smoother because it changes how you react to situations

If you are suffering with anxiety meditation will help you become calmer.

The other day I had to go to a meeting with a new client. I was a little late leaving and hit a traffic jam on the highway. I had left my mobile phone at home and couldn't contact my new client and I did not know the area and had to completely rely on my sat nav to get me there.

The typical default reaction of the mind in such a situation is agitation:

The untrained mind wanders off into all sorts of negative scenarios: What if I am going to be stuck for hours, what if the sat nav is wrong, it happened last week, what is my client going to think? This is probably the end of a great business relationship before it even began.

Instead of getting worked up over the situation I decided to use the time to meditate on getting to my client in time and imagined a perfect meeting. I focused on feeling calm and remain in a heart centred space.

The heart is an important part of the guided transformational practice because it magnifies and magnetises the outcome you desire

You always get what you focus on. Most of us have no idea how to direct the mind to focus on the right things.

As it so happened I managed to get to my new client only a few minutes late. The office was easy to find and we had a great first meeting. We agreed on a meditation training program for the senior executives in the office, my very favourite type of coaching. What could be better?

In being able to control my mental state I was radiating an energy that proved that I walk my talk

Have you noticed that when you radiate a high energy things seem to work out somehow? Now imagine what will happen in your life if you can control your thinking and direct it towards your desired outcomes? Imagine how much time and energy you'd free up if you did not have to react to every glitch? At the very least life would become more enjoyable and we know, it is a well researched fact that happy people have more successful lives.

5 Ways Technology Can Help You Practise Yoga and Meditation in the Comfort of Home

by , in

chnology often gets a bit of a bad reputation where mental and physical wellbeing is concerned. What with squinting at our phones screens, staring at the TV, hunching over our laptops and being exposed to unnatural indoor lighting all day, it's no wonder we tend to think of technology negatively impacting our physical and mental health.

However, as well as the bad impacts of technology, there are lots of new technologies out there that have emerged to help us look after ourselves more. In particular, in this article I want to focus on 5 technologies that anyone can use to meditate or practise yoga at home.

It's widely accepted that both yoga and meditation are excellent for reducing stress and anxiety, and for generally helping us to be relaxed and more positive. Just focusing on our breath and body in the present for even a short length of time - whether 5 minutes or an hour - is enough to calm our minds and rid ourselves of all of the thoughts whizzing around our heads in today's modern world. Yoga is also excellent for building core body strength and physical flexibility, which is especially good if, like me, you suffer from back pain and stiffness.

Often, the problem with meditating and doing yoga is actually finding the time and motivation to get started. For some people, it's also having the confidence to give it a go - especially actually going to a class where you might think that people will be judgemental or just plain better than you.

The 5 technologies can help anyone to get the best out of doing yoga and meditation at home.

1) Practise "Stop, Breathe, Think" with Amazon Alexa

Amazon's voice-controlled smart home assistant is called Alexa. There are many different devices available now that Amazon has launched featuring Alexa. They include the Amazon Echo (a larger speaker for playing music) and the Amazon dot, which is a smaller version without the large speaker but can still hear you and respond to commands. Alexa has thousands of different useful skills which can be activated just with a voice command. There is a whole section of skills in the Health & Fitness category, one of which is the "Stop, Breathe, Think" skill. You can say "Alexa, open Stop, Breathe, Think" and one of various meditation routines will be activated. The calm and relaxing voice will lead you through a guided meditation as opposed to you trying to clear your busy mind alone in a silent room.

2) Stream yoga classes at home with Yogaia

Armed with just a laptop or tablet and some decent Wi-Fi, you can now stream live yoga classes from home. The benefit of this service which is available for a monthly fee (that is cheaper than a lot of single yoga classes) is that you get the best of both worlds. You get the combined convenience of following a video at home with the ability to have a teacher watch your technique when participating in a class.

3) Achieve the right ambiance with smart lighting

The problem with traditional indoor lighting has always been how harsh it is. Incandescent bulbs trick our bodies into thinking it's time to be alert and active. Great when you're trying to concentrate on work, not so good if you're trying to chill out! Candles are great, but can be an effort to set up and a potential safety hazard indoors. Now with smart lights, you can control your lighting to be a more relaxing sunset colour when you're trying to do yoga or meditate, or when you're trying to sleep. You can have them automated to change at a certain time, use a remote, or even control them with your voice using a smart assistant like the Amazon Alexa or Google Home.

4) Download the Headspace app

This app is available on Apple or Android and offers a multitude of ways to practise meditation and mindfulness at home (or wherever you happen to be in fact). The app has a free 10 day mindfulness programme called "Take 10". After that, there's a subscription fee to access lots of guided and unguided practices. Headspace also shares the love by donating a free subscription to someone in need for every person who pays.

5) Invest in an essential oils diffuser

Yoga and meditation are all about breathing, so why not make sure the air you breathe is also helping to enhance your mental and physical wellbeing? Essential oils are known to trigger the receptors of your brain responsible for controlling emotions, and one of the most effective ways of using them is in an electronic diffuser. It uses innovative ultrasound technology to emit the oils in a powerful mist that will fill the whole room with scent that can help you get the best from your yoga or mediation

Powerful Meditation Methods

by , in
When you start meditation, it is very difficult to rest your mind. As soon as you close your eyes, your mind starts to wander here and there and the matter of the fact that you start imagining all possible activities. Like you would cast yourself in your favorite movie, would think about your work problems, family struggles and a lot more.

So, it is important to choose a thing to focus on while meditating, which will give your mind a specific direction and it will not wander here and there with random thoughts. You can choose a focus point, for example an image of Christ or Buddha (according to your religion practice) or you can mindfully focus on your breath. These two is the traditional methods used by the siddhas.

In shiv manas puja, an ancient scripture says that you become the one on whom you meditate. It is known that the seekers prefer to meditate on the siddha who has attained enlightenment. In meditation, we invoke so much energy from the universe and absorb that energy within our self, so its recommended that we should meditate on God.
Focusing on breathe is considered a simple and easy practice to stable your mind. It also deepens your breath, which will work as a healer for your body and mind. Scientifically, deep breaths pump more blood in your body so that you are able to provide more oxygen to all your body organs, eventually your organs will start functioning fully.

Watch your breath going inside your body, with the expansion of your chest feel that you are inhaling light and positivity, imbibe the goodness inside you, you have pumped oxygen for your body which is spreading throughout, spread the goodness also with the oxygen to each organ, each cell of your body, exhale all the negativity and darkness from within. And this process will continue. This process will also help you to clean you aura.

But it is also important as advised by great siddhas that to be generous with yourself and so you should not fixate too much while concentrating on mind.

So we recommend you to have your 30 percent attention on watching your breath, but that alone is not sufficient. Because you start with focusing on the breath but after sometime, you have lost your track and get lost in random thoughts so other 30 percent should be devoted to continual vigilance or watchful awareness that you are focusing properly. Remaining 40 percent should be left in the open space.
So, the percentage doesn't matter as such but the three elements needed to know are: Focus, Vigilance, Spaciousness.

One should not choke their thoughts; they will naturally come and go. It's just you should not interact with them. These thoughts automatically turn inward after some days. Gradually, you are able to rest your mind peacefully without facing any sort of distraction and at that point you will not require focus point to begin your meditation.

You will then experience consciousness in meditation and can see your inner self. When you become aware of your consciousness, it will reflect in your behavior, activities and in your daily life. Spiritual life is not different from your daily life. This awareness will remove all the anxieties and distractions from your life and will make your more peaceful and calm person. It will bring stability in your personality and make you grounded with your inner self. You will feel a new confidence in you and become filled with strength. You become so ease full and composed with the events of life, whether they are struggles or glee.

Methods to achieve awakening and enlightenment

On profound level, we can say meditation is using the mind to recognize the supreme consciousness.

Mind, unaltered or without changing at all will rest in the natural place in the present and this is the state of meditation.

A great saint said about meditation is that we are like water, when it is not stirred then it becomes clear, similarly when our mind become thoughtless, it will find its own peace, well-being, happiness and bliss in its natural state.
The most incredible and beautiful thing about meditation is that it is your most natural state. Remember the most natural state of you in the whole day. It is your sleep. In your sleep, you are free from enforced thoughts. You are free from emotions like happiness and pain; it's just that you are in the present moment.

Meditation is the state where you are present simply with the awareness. Your awareness can witness all emotions, thoughts or sensations arising inside you but do not indulge with them. In meditation you can reach in that profound state where you are just present with the awareness of your consciousness and able to see it becoming one with the supreme consciousness.

You expand in the form of universe, your consciousness expand from its limitations and become bigger than your body. It is the state where your emotions, your senses fade away and your sky vast nature of true being revealed to you. As sun radiate warmth and shine, similarly you become the epitome of love and compassion.
The more you stay connected to your inner self; your true being will more unfold to you.

This can be done with the support of many spiritual practices other than meditation. Few practices are:

1. Chanting

It is the practice in which we sing the name of God with devotion and compassion. Singing the name of God is the simplest way to reach the God. Even the siddhas after achieving the enlightenment always used to chant the god's glory with immense joy. Hymn of the God automatically fills you with great happiness and turn your mind inside. Your mind becomes still on the god and you experience the divinity inside you and around you. This will lead you to enlightenment and liberation.

2. Mantra Japa

When you took mantra from the siddha being who has capable of giving initiation or shaktipat, then that mantra become alive or chaitanya. Alive mantra is not different from the god. Repetition of mantras cleans your being and your karma. Mantra helps you to glide in meditation immediately. Gradually, mantra becomes part of you and subconsciously all time, it gets repeated inside you and then you are in the state of meditation while doing your routine chores. Few people focus on mantra while meditating.

3. Svavdhaya

Svavdhaya is daily recitation of mantras; it purifies your being and could easily send you in the state of meditation. Svavdhaya stabilize your mind and provide you the focus point on the sacred texts and scriptures. Recitation of scriptures was the part of the daily routine of students in the ancient time. It makes you sharp and tells you the importance of the practices you are performing. This will expand your perspective and knowledge. You should know that what you're doing and what will be the significance so that you can spread your knowledge to the world. This is the extended pray to the Lord. This is the es

Debunking The Exotic Retreat Myth

by , in
Hardly a week goes by when I do not receive yet another invitation to go on an exotic retreat. Yesterday it was Mount Shasta, last week I was asked to go on a cruise to clear my mind and reboot. The spin around exotic retreats has reached a point where I felt I had to point out some contradictions which should be obvious, alas most people are not aware of them.

If you are looking for lasting change, a change of scenery may give you a short boost, but as soon as you are back home, the effect wears off. This incidentally has been proven in a number of experiments by neurologists.

Lasting change only arises through regular application of different habits and different thinking because we are what we do day in and day out.

Geopathic fallacy, as it has also been called, plays to the mind's illusion that a change of scenery will change your life and bring lasting happiness.

If you want to relax, any form of meditation will train your body to become relaxed.

If you are looking to transform your life, or are going through a period of turmoil and adjustment you may benefit from coaching or mentoring over a period of time.

Regular short breaks have shown to be more effective in creating lasting changes. It is the way the brain learns best.

Transformational change occurs over time and not in sudden bursts

If you experience a "sudden" change in your life, the energy has been building over a long period of time in the background of your subconscious mind.

Your environment only changes your own energy if the environment is changed permanently. For example certain Feng Shui strategies raise the environment in your office or home permanently. Your body entrains with the higher vibration over time, particularly if you learn to consciously feel and align with the new vibration.

Change occurs when the chemistry in your brain changes

Once the chemistry in your brain changes, new neural pathways have been created. Regular practice of thinking differently and acting differently from your habitual ways of thinking and acting gradually build stronger neural pathways.

Transformational meditation is a technique that teaches you how to change your own energy irrespective of location

Next time you see a retreat offer be mindful of what you are buying into. The myth of locale as the healer is just another way of seeking the solution to your problems from the outside when the only place to change is within.

Zazen Meditation - First Experience

by , in
Growing up with martial arts, thanks to my parents, it has become an intricate part of my life. There are principles in martial arts that have been consistent in all areas. Work hard. Be efficient. Calmness of mind helps you to prevail. As a daily meditator I have thought about many subjects. The point of Zazen meditation is to let thoughts go as soon as they enter your mind. This put me into a state of eternal beauty.

It was like feeling everything around you. You know and hear everything that is happening and yet just observing. There are no judgements or thoughts. The truck outside passed rather loudly which I thought would disturb my meditation and yet when I enacted the principle of letting thoughts go it was simply a truck passing by, people doing their daily work, living a beautiful life. By letting thoughts go a person can observe and see life as it is. Life is a work of art. To take a moment in life to comprehend what that means is a great experience.

The three principles that I discussed in the introduction were magnanimous, nurturing and joyfulness.

Magnanimous means to think high-minded or noble. Realize that everything around us is a gift. We must understand that each person we meet, every place we go, every solitary thing that we hear, feel, taste or see is a wonderful gift. Be thankful that this has entered your life because it is an amazing experience that you get to have. This is your own special experience that you can use in any way that pleases you. Choose wisely how you use your gifts.

Nurturing is when you look at things from a parental stand point. Everything is amazing, and you have the choice to take care of that, leave it be to make its own way or to stamp it out of existence. What choices do you have? When looking at everything and everyone in life pretend as if you want to care for it. Natural Asthma Remedies: Why Inflammation May Be the Cause of Your Asthma

by , in

ere is an epidemic of asthma in our country and around the world. Most people got asthma when they were a child and knew about it as adults. But now a lot of people are getting asthma for the first time as adults and they want to know why. Let's take a look at our diet and how it is impacting asthma.

Asthma is above all an inflammatory condition. What asthma sufferers don't realize is what they are eating can be causing inflammation in the body which leads to serious asthma flare ups.

There have been several studies linking an increase in inflammation as the underlying cause of asthma. Natural asthma remedies can be used to cool inflammation without any side effects.

When we eat poorly over a long period of time our body becomes imbalanced and inflammation starts to grow. Nutrient-depleted diets such as the SAD diet not only is unhealthy but causes chronic inflammation in our bodies. Ever present inflammation makes sufferers extra sensitive to triggers.

Standard American Diet (SAD) consists of more Omega 6's than Omega 3's and we are eating a lot of sugar in our foods. Too much sugar, carbohydrates and fats are consumed. Sugar suppresses our immune system and causes inflammation in the gut.

Omega 3 fatty acids have an anti-inflammatory effect, while omega 6 fatty acids promote inflammation. Yet we eat an abundance of omega 6 fatty acids every day. Omega 6 fatty acids are the ones that you see in most processed food and they are known as trans-fats or partially hydrogenated oils.

Evaluate your diet. What we are eating is causing inflammation in our bodies and once this happens we start seeing more serious health issues like asthma. We become more sensitive to certain foods like milk, gluten, corn and a host of other problems begin to crop up like sensitivity to chemicals, dust, mold, pollen, etc. Some people even become sensitive to the paint in their bedrooms. Think about adding natural asthma remedies to your diet like Omega 3's - fish, fish oil, nuts.

In addition to unbalanced fat intake, nine out of ten Americans don't eat sufficient amounts of vegetables and fruits, which are rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory vitamins, and other nutrients. Vitamin C and E as well as flavonoids have potent anti-inflammatory benefits. Supplements containing magnesium, selenium and vitamin C are great natural asthma remedies.

Cloves, Ginger, Onions, fruits like strawberries, blueberries, papaya and lemons are all great natural asthma remedies. They contain anti-inflammatory benefits and vitamin C.

It's important to eliminate as many allergens as possible. Avoid troublesome foods. Get tested to see if you are deficient on any vitamins or minerals. Try natural asthma remedies to get to the underlying cause of your asthma symptoms.

Natural asthma remedies are safe and effective and can help reduce inflammation. When you help your body from within and address your inflammation you can feel a dramatic difference in your symptoms.

I Have A Secret

by , in

d this crazy secret goal for ten years. I consider it a secret, well up until now, because if I didn't say it out loud, people wouldn't know it or see me fail. Crazy because well, if you know me you know I hate to run. The goal? To run a marathon or 1/2 marathon before I turn 50 and now time is running out on me.

So last week I dusted off my couch to 5k app, you've got to start somewhere right? Found a future race I wanted to run in and then proceeded to spend the morning in front of the TV.

The reason I spent the morning on the couch was because I had so many things running through my head I was afraid to move off the couch, ironic I know since I just downloaded the COUCH to 5k app. These are just a few things making the rounds in my head. How was I going to train in Albany NY in the winter? What was I thinking? How would I run with my asthma, especially in the winter? Now the five people who read this article would witness me failing or succeeding if I'm looking at the glass half full. But the big thought running through my head was, am I capable of running 13.1 miles?

You see, when I set goals for myself, I set myself up to fail from the start. I set such out of reach goals that they are hard to accomplish. For the first time in my entire life, I've decided to set an attainable goal first and then build on that goal. Instead of setting out for a marathon right away, my first goal is to finish the entire Couch to 5K program. Nine weeks, three times a week and then move on to a Couch to 10K, then move on to a Half Marathon. I also think I'm going to modify my goal, for now, to a half marathon and then, if at the end of the training and if my old body doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart, maybe I'll train for a full marathon.

One of the problems I will encounter with this goal is I'm a lazy person. I always have been and not just a little lazy, like really really lazy. I could very easily sit on the couch for days on end watching Netflix. But I have also had the good fortune to experience the runner's high, it's real and amazing, but usually the laziness wins. The hardest part for me will be the actually getting out there and going for a run. One of my other problems is that I hate running. Mostly because I run too fast, you know to hurry up and get it over with. Then I become so out of breath that I am sure I'm going to have a heart attack. I also have asthma, which makes it hard to run and even harder in the winter. The last problem I think I'll have to overcome is my family, more specifically my husband. You see, I've started this goal before, and they have watched me start it and give up. So when I mentioned it to Rob, his first response was laughter, and then I believe he said "we've been down this road before." His reaction is completely understandable and justifiable. I'm pretty sure I had the same reaction when I said it out loud in my head. But maybe, just maybe, if I put it out there on the World Wide Web, I will be accountable and less likely to quit, maybe.

I figure if I can accomplish a life long dream and goal of opening a bakery, surely I can train my body to run 13.1 miles. Some might say making croissants seven days a week for 14 hours a day is much easier than running 13.1 miles. However, my thumbs and wrists would beg to differ. So here we go, another goal, another dream and I know I can do it; after all I was the owner of flour. sugar. eggs. for a year.

I hate to run; I hate not being able to breathe, but I love the feeling you get after running, I love feeling like I've accomplished something or better yet that my body has accomplished something. Here I go, I hope you are routing for me and wishing me luck

Top 5 Steps to Defeat Asthma - Natural Treatment

by , in

uffering with Asthma every day is like having an extra job trying to control the symptoms. It only takes one day when the air pollution is higher than normal causing you to wheeze so bad you can't make it into work. The cold air hitting your lungs causes you to have an asthma attack so you stay home more than going out. You resort to your medication to keep your asthma at bay. Does this sound like you?

Choosing a natural treatment for asthma may be what you need not only to relieve your symptoms but to heal your body from the inside.

#1. Asthma (Natural Treatment)

Asthma is an inflammatory reaction to allergens and irritants. Before we can deal with the inflammation it's important to start the process of treating your asthma naturally by analyzing your environment.

Remove all allergens and irritants that may trigger an asthma attack: chemicals, aerosol sprays, animal dander, certain medications, molds, perfumes, pollens, sulfites, to name a few.

Jane had asthma since she was 5, (61 years ago) but had it well controlled until about 14 years ago. Then in spring she would have to wear a filter mask when she walked her dog or end up with an asthma attack. This went on for 3 years. After learning how toxic the indoor air was in her home, she removed all chemical allergens and have not had to use a filter mask or had an asthma attack in 10 years. She credits not having the chemical allergens in the house to compound the outdoor allergens.

Jane made one change to her environment and as you can see it made a dramatic difference in her breathing and ability to go outside without having an asthma attack.

#2. Asthma (Natural Treatment)

Our diets are one of the main sources of inflammation that we face daily. We eat at least three times per day, and that repetitive level of inflammation needs to be addressed if you are ever to get off some of your medication and breathe more easily.

Eat more anti-inflammatory foods like: apricots, cruciferous vegetables, onions, papaya, pumpkin and tomatoes. Foods to avoid: Citrus fruits, dairy products, dyes and preservatives, sugar and wheat.

#3. Asthma (Natural Treatment)

People with asthma need to pay particular attention to fats because good fats are anti-inflammatory. Omega 3 fatty acids have an anti-inflammatory effect, while Omega 6 fatty acids promote inflammation. We tend to eat foods high in Omega-6 fatty acids. Good examples of omega-3 fatty acids are those in fish. Increase your intake of fish (or take a high quality fish oil supplement), nuts, olive oil while decreasing the amount of canola oil, and processed food of any kind.

#4. Asthma (Natural Treatment)

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that live in our gut and are commonly destroyed by the antibiotics we take regularly. Supplementing with probiotics can help heal asthma naturally from within.

#5. Asthma (Natural Treatment)

Often times, asthmatics are depleted of crucial nutrients due to the chronic inflammation in the body. Take a high quality nutritional supplement which supplies all the vitamins and minerals important to the immune system.

This 5 step Asthma Natural Treatment will absolutely influence how well you breathe and start healing your body from the inside.

My name is Cheryl Webb. I have a passion for wellness and showing others how to find relief from their asthma. I have corrected my own health problems with the use of natural alternatives and continue to help others do the same

What Are 3 Things I Can Do About Asthma?

by , in

ayo Clinic, representing more than 3,300 physicians, scientists and researchers, says that it isn't clear why only some people get asthma. According to their research the cause of asthma is genetic and environmental. This means it is passed on through families and triggered by environmental exposure. Of course, there are cases that are purely hereditary and cases that are purely environmental. For example, a chronic smoker can get asthma even if they have no genetic disposition. For average people, the main concern is to eliminate the environmental causes of asthma, especially for young children who may develop the disease from exposure. There is actually 3 things you can do to greatly reduce the environmental exposure to irritants that cause asthma.

The first thing is eliminating toxins. The big ones are pet dander, Volatile Organic Compounds, such as smoke, and dust. The grand majority of dust is circulated through the home by the central heating and cooling air duct systems. This is where duct cleaning or proper window treatment and caulking goes a long way. This is a simple step that gets big results. Removing those pounds of dust is very effective and it is important to keep dust from coming in.

The second thing is looking out for is sulfates and preservatives, such as those found in shrimp, dried fruit, processed potatoes, beer and wine. In a healthy adult, with a mature liver, these foods are fine, but in growing children, for some reason, they are linked to asthma attacks. Most of those foods don't look like anything a kid would eat, but food manufacturing companies have a nasty habit of sneaking in preservatives, such as mono sodium glutamate (MSG), under new and improved names such as glutamate acid and so on. The big red flag in the food preservation industry is the amount of salt. Table salt doesn't really represent a threat, but the salt in food is usually linked with long chain organic preservatives such as sulfates that is shown to lead to more frequent asthma attacks. The moral of the story is: if you are buying groceries and you notice a high amount of sodium, sulfates are also likely present in that food.

The last and most important thing to avoid for asthma is cold or polluted air. Weird how very frigid air can provoke asthma, but a repeated strain on the respiratory system in the form of cold air does this. Then there is the obvious mainly considered reason: pollution! In terms of pollution, we have the most control by using electronic air filters for our indoor air and regularly changing air filters like in our cars. Those three things will give you deep, fresh breathing!

Can you remember the last time you scheduled an air duct cleaning? Have you ever? Has there been construction in your neighborhood, kicking up dust? Do you live near heavy traffic and the car pol

Asthma or Not? Cough in Children With Asthma

by , in

ough is likely due to asthma if it refuses to go away over days, weeks or months, is worse at night or early in the morning, or if it comes and goes without notice.

A cough is even more likely due to asthma if the child also suffers from a chronic rough skin rash called eczema, or if a parent or other close relative has asthma.

Kids and adolescents can develop asthma at any age. So, no matter at what age such a cough began, the recognition that the child might have an underlying asthma condition is essential.

Sadly, many parents are reluctant to accept a diagnosis of asthma, a dilemma which leads to unnecessary pain and suffering, delay in treatment and even loss of life. For parents who can't come to term with their child having asthma, I have good news: a cough due to asthma quickly gets better with proper medications. Moreover, children can outgrow their asthma.

Why people suffer from asthma

People who suffer from asthma have sensitive, hyper-responsive lungs, in the same way that people who suffer from eczema have sensitive skin.

A sensitive lung can go into spasm or constriction at any time. Spasm narrows small air channels, limiting airflow within the lungs and suddenly making it difficult for people with asthma to breathe. During such an episode of asthma attack, patients can experience shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, fast breathing, and chest tightness or discomfort.

Wheezing is a high-pitched musical sound taking place in the chest of someone who is experiencing an asthma attack. When loud, people nearby can hear it; but at other times it can only be heard by clinicians who listen to the chest with a stethoscope.

Asthma triggers

Catarrh or runny nose with its concomitant viral infection, cold weather, pets such as cats and dogs, dust, dirt, cockroaches, pollutants, paint fumes, perfumes, mold, grass, pollens and cigarette smoke can trigger already sensitive lungs into an episode of coughing and wheezing. Exercise, as well as emotions, also triggers a cough and shortness of breath in people with sensitive lungs.

Cough as a sign of asthma

Cough, a common problem, is one of the many signs of asthma. Parents and caregivers bring children to clinicians when their cough continues for many days and does not resolve with cough syrup. A cough is bothersome to children; it can prevent them from sleeping at night or during the day, can provoke them to vomit, can make them fearful of eating and even cause them to lose weight. When a cough and fever go together in a child, a more sinister illness such as pneumonia comes to mind.

Severity of asthma

When evaluating a child with asthma, it is important to assess the severity of the symptoms. Some children have the intermittent form of asthma, while others have the persistent form.

People with the irregular form of asthma experience symptoms once in a while. Those who have a persistent form experience degrees of symptoms more often, usually on a weekly basis or a daily basis, and sometimes even several times a day.

Examination of children with asthma

Clinicians look for signs of distress when presented with a child with an acute attack of asthma. The in-and-out pulling of chest muscles in a patient, or 'retraction', signals air-hunger and agony.

When there is no obvious wheezing, chest retraction or spontaneous coughing, I tend to ask the child, if they are old enough and comfortable, to cough out loud so that I can hear it

By the sound, one can often tell from where a cough is coming: from the throat, or pharynx, or from deep in the chest. The latter would mean that the lungs are the source of the problem, and therefore indicative of asthma. This distinction is important.

Respiratory rates, temperature, pulse rate and oxygen saturation are some of the vital signs obtained at the time of first examination.

Diagnosis of asthma

Clinicians can diagnose asthma in a patient who has a cough by listening to the chest with a stethoscope. A high-pitched musical sound, known as a wheeze, is suggestive of this condition. When a patient's symptoms are relieved with the use of a bronchodilator, such as albuterol, the diagnosis is all but certain.

Asthma medications

Drugs for asthma treatment, known as bronchodilators, are targeted to open up the narrowed airways so that air can get into the lungs. Another group of medications called 'inhaled steroids' reduces mucus production and inflammation in the small air channels. People with frequent asthma attacks should use both medications. Medical practitioners need to explain details of use.

Asthma control and prevention

Prevention is the key to containing asthma. People who have the condition should avoid known environmental triggers; some of the well-known allergens-dust, cats, dogs, smoke, roaches and so on have already been mentioned. Different asthmatics can have different triggers.

An asthma action plan is a set of steps which, when completed by medical practitioners, guides patients on the use of their medication before and during symptoms, and what to do when symptoms do not improve. There is also a section that tells users how to control things in their environment that make their asthma worse.

Why do people die from asthma?

Two years ago, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the CDC, in the USA reported 187 children under the age of 18 had died that year as a result of asthma.

My guess is that the numbers of children who die of asthma every day within the inner cities of underdeveloped countries such as Onitsha in Nigeria, where pollution is at every street corner and people breathe air mixed with smoke, dirt and dust, are countless.

Simple measures such as avoiding asthma triggers and prompt use of asthma medication would prevent many unnecessary deaths. Failure to recognize the illness is the most heartbreaking and obvious reason for the high numbers. Furthermore, lack of access to much-needed medication as well as a delay in seeking expert medical intervention is often to blame.

Do You Know What To Do When Your Child Has An Asthma Attack?

by , in
Anyone who has seen a child having an asthma attack knows how scary it can be. One of the primary symptoms of an attack is struggling to breathe or gasping for air. This may or not be accompanied by coughing or wheezing and a tummy ache. The symptoms often get steadily worse.

Panicking at a time like this is the worst thing you can do. Your child is sure to be already frightened and needs someone soothing and reassuring who can help them to calm down and get some control over their breathing.

Step By Step Actions To Take

The next time your child has an asthma attack, take a few seconds to first calm yourself down. Remember, a panicked parent will only make things worse.
Then very calmly, get your child to take a puff from their reliever inhaler. The recommended dosage is one puff every 30 seconds to 60 seconds. If you have a spacer, use it so that you determine the usage correctly.

10 puffs is the recommended dosage, which means this will have to be done over a period of 5 to 10 minutes. If your child is still feeling breathless and struggling to breathe after the recommended 10 puffs, you must call an ambulance so that your child can receive medical attention immediately.

What To Do If The Symptoms Persist

Never hesitate to call an ambulance if you find that the inhaler is not working effectively enough to calm down the symptoms. Even if it is working but you are still worried, call for help anyway.

Of course, if your child does not have their inhaler with them at that moment, you should not waste any time wondering about whether or not you should call an ambulance. It is critical to get on the phone and call for help as quickly as possible.

What To Do If The Symptoms Improve

If your child has regained control of their breathing and the symptoms are alleviated after using the relieving inhaler, you must still make an appointment with your pediatrician for a follow up appointment. This is very important. If you can, make the appointment within 24 hours of the episode.

A follow up consultation after an episode, allows the pediatrician to do a thorough assessment to check what triggered it off and whether your child needs to increase their dosage or change the medication completely. Depending on their findings, the pediatrician will also advise you as to what ya

Improve Digestion Through Ayurvedic Practices

by , in

s per Ayurveda, the well-being and health of a person depend upon his or her ability to assimilate everything that is taken in from the surroundings. This intake not only includes drink and food, but also the emotions, experiences, and impressions that a person perceives via tongue, skin, ears, nose, and eyes. It is the digestive fire which is known as Agni in Sanskrit that helps to break down food and other substances which people take in from the environment. The useful part gets assimilated and the rest gets eliminated.

When the Agni is powerful and strong, healthy tissues get created, waste products are eliminated and a vital essence known as Ojas gets produced. Ayurveda specifies that Ojas is the foundation for clarity of physical strength, perception, and immunity. While, if the Agni is weak due to lack of physical activity, unhealthy routine or negative energy, then the digestion process gets hampered and a lot of toxins get produced in the human body. The toxic residue that gets stored inside the body is known as Ama, which becomes the prime cause of many diseases one of which is the irritable bowel syndrome.

Uncovering The Prime Reasons For Digestive Issues:

Whether it is dealing with GI symptoms or weight issues, the underlying problem is poor digestion or the weak Agni as Ayurveda specifies. Unfortunately, the allopathic medication only controls the symptom and does not treat the focal underlying issue. The practitioner of allopathic medication advices the patients to eliminate the offending food products that causes digestive irritation. However, they never look into the matter as to why that food could not get digested by the system. The Ayurvedic concept expands the scope of treatment by stressing more on the increase of digestive power. This ensures that there is a possibility for a person to enjoy his favourite food in future. Today, many people all around the world adhere to Ayurvedic treatment for IBS or other digestion issues owing to long-term results.

Practical Suggestions Of Ayurveda:

Ayurveda recommends several techniques which are quite practical in keeping your dig

The It Factor - A Letter to Healthcare Providers

by , in

ay I became brave enough to write this letter. It has taken me awhile to come to a place of personal power which affords me the ability to share with you my story. I am grateful that you have taken the time to read my simple words.

You are receiving this letter today because we have worked together in some capacity in the healthcare industry. For some of you it has been awhile since we have spoken and for others it may have been only yesterday. I hope you at least get a chuckle out of the words I am about to share.

About 3 years ago my life permanently changed. I was not diagnosed with a disease, I did not lose a loved one, no tragedies to report. In fact my life was going along in an incredibly normal mundane manner. Then it happened, I was given a mandate. I cannot tell you the source of this mandate but I can tell you it was given to me in an extremely powerful and profound way. What was given to me as a powerful directive was "Heal the Healer". You may ask as, I have a million times, what in the world does that mean? I will try and explain to you the understanding which has slowly unfolded for me. At first I completely rejected the idea. Who was I? I worked for, supported, managed and/or was treated by physicians, nurses or providers of the healing arts. What could I offer to any of you? As I deliberated over such thoughts I began to understand a few things.

First, was that I stepped into a career of Medical Practice Management because I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I did not grow up thinking or saying "I want to do or be that". On the other hand I make the assumption that most of you did grow up knowing what you wanted to be. You studied and worked very hard to be the "healers" that you are today.

Second, was that I did not follow my childhood dreams or passions. When I was young I thought that I was going to be a Catholic Nun or a mental health therapist. These professions would have served me well. But my source had a different path for me to take to arrive at my life purpose.

Third, I was placed in your life or you were placed in mine for a purpose. As an employee of physicians I supported you to do the work you needed to do. I loved and cared for the patients and practices that I managed for you. As a supervisor of nurses, physicians, therapists and support staff I supported you to do the work that you needed to do, to care for the patients or clients. I have often been referred to as the Mamma Bear of many a practice; loving and caring for all and I have been known to be a powerful patient advocate. Interesting enough I have been both a spiritual guide and therapist to several of you. (Funny how that works)

My final realization was, "Healers" tend to not be so good at self-care. You give your heart and soul to others, often depleting yourselves. So the idea of "Heal the Healer" began to resonate with me.

Once the mandate was given to me, even though I rejected it, my life path began to change. I call that time the duality of Ginger. On one side I remained a focused administrator, but there was another side of me that began to expand. Through that expansion I began to study alternative healing modalities. I was certified in a few different methods but was unable to act upon my new knowledge. The administrative side of me was riddle with the fear that I may cause someone injury. I had such an integral part of holding all risks at bay in the practices I worked in, that I could not move forward in becoming a Healer. These modalities followed similar protocols to what you do today. Triage, Intake, Examine, Diagnose and Treatment.

Then my world was rocked by a process referred to as The Reconnection and Reconnective Healing. The purpose of my letter is to introduce you to a new expansive idea. No I am not selling you a time share and this is not a multilevel marketing scheme. What it might look like at first glimpse is quackery. Again I beg you to stick with me for a moment longer.

I am convinced that your work could be amplified by the energies (frequency if you will) of The Reconnection. OK, I hear you! You are thinking or actually saying out loud "what in the world is she talking about". Before you sign a petition to institutionalize me, stop and think for a moment. Can you name an acclaimed individual who has greatly contributed to a significant positive change in our world, who has not mentioned a divine intervention, divine knowledge, an inner knowing, a voice or an understanding beyond this world that led to many of their discoveries or inventions? I believe in all significant discoveries there is always the "IT" factor. Something that wakes you up in the middle of the night with the knowledge you have been searching for. There are individuals who have come into this plain of time and space with that connection. For most of us there is a disconnect. Why is there "a disconnect"? I do not know. But I do know for a fact, that my Reconnection and the Reconnection of several people I know have dramatically sent them on the express train to their life purpose. I'm not saying that if you pursued this that you would discover a new color, a cure or a way to teleport, though you may. I am saying that I am sure that your healing can become more in alignment with the "IT" factor which interns amplifies it. This may just be what Heal the Healer meant.

The premise of The Reconnection process is that our meridian lines (acupuncture lines) were intended to be energetically connected to the lay lines of the planet and then connected to the universal grid lines. 50 years ago this would have been considered hogwash or hippie skippy stuff. But the field of Quantum Physics is begging us to reconsider our antiquated ideas and ideals. You all know that I am not scientific in any stretch of the imagination. So I struggle to give you the scientific data, but it is available. What I can give you is my life experience and the life experiences of those who I have witnessed. There is something really powerful here and I want you to dare to consider the possibilities.

OK, you made it to the end of this letter. I want you to know that I did not write to you to obtain more clients, to pad my referral list or to snag you into this idea. If you do not contact me regarding this I don't mind. I simply want to follow my mandate or better said Life Purpose of "Heal the Healer".

My deepest desire is that I have planted a teeny tiny seed of interest. I challenge you to look it up, take off the skepticism shades that may cover your eyes, what if I am right, what if there is more to this universe than we have been led to believe. What I really want is for you to pursue a Reconnection or experience Reconnective Healing from anyone who is certified. If you get to the point of asking god Google what is The Reconnection and who is Dr. Eric Pearl. Your thoughts might be "Oh My Goodness" this cannot be legitimate". Don't judge a book by the cover or the source in which the universe has chosen to present this information. Push through judgment and read his book or better yet, just go do it. What can you lose?

I remain honored and blessed.

Reiki Healing Can Help Determine the Root of Your Illness

by , in

aving lived a life that was less than perfect like most of us have, I had grown accustomed to holding some negative things in my mind which has made my body very sick at one point in my life. It wasn't until that time that I learned most about mind, body, and spirit, and the power of your thoughts. Illness is created in your mind first with your thoughts!

I grew up in a home where children were seen and not heard. From a very young age, I was taught that my voice didn't count or matter, so I didn't learn to speak my truth or even to have an opinion. From holding in my truth for so long, I successfully developed thyroid cancer. I know I keep coming back to this in my writing, but I want people to realize that when terrible things happen in your world sometimes, it's what you take from those things to grow and learn, that make or break abundant health, wealth, and ultimately happiness in your life.

The physical and emotional healing I've done in my life due to this illness, was bittersweet. While I wouldn't wish anyone to go through the horrific time of healing that I did, today I can honestly say that I was blessed with the lesson. My body screamed in warning to me for a very long time, but I just didn't listen. Of course I would become sick at some point while ignoring the signs, but I had no idea at the time.

It was then that I realized the power of my mind through my own personal healer. Every hardship or trying time that we go through, is simply a lesson, and if you choose to view it as such, you will then begin your own healing journey. This is what I wish for everyone; to truly learn how to heal mind, body, and spirit as one!

I took many different paths and roadways to do my own personal healing. My personal healer was nothing short of what I considered my miracle. She helped me to physically heal my body with weekly Reiki treatments. Continuing on with my healer for quite some time, she was able to help me determine the emotional root of the negativity being held onto which was creating the physical illness in the first place. This is truly where the magic happened!

Healing is always a work in progress! Throughout your entire life's journeys, there will be lessons to learn and healing to do! Think about what negative things your holding onto. This is what truly creates the aches and pains in our physical bodies, that eventually create illness and disease. Take the time to do some healing work on you, and allow me to help you live the happy, healthy, and abundant life you deserve!

Top Reasons Why You Should See a Running Chiropractor

by , in

Running is one of the best activities for fitness and weight loss. If you are a runner, you are probably aware of the common running injuries. Most people believe that chiropractors just treat back pain, which isn't the case. Chiropractic care has many benefits, but most importantly, it adds to your fitness levels in many ways. Here's a list of reasons why every runner should consider seeing a chiropractor.

1. Prevent injuries. Let's start by saying that visiting a chiropractor doesn't guarantee immunity or protection against injuries. However, if you are someone who gets injured frequently on the run, chiropractic treatment can help. They can identify the possible issues in joints and nerves and can help in fixing many issues that impact running.

2. Recover faster. Injured runners and athletes often consult with chiropractors for quick healing. They often use a variety of techniques to increase blood flow to the injured area.

3. Improve your energy levels. Numerous organs, body parts, and glands work in sync with one another, and everything is interconnected. If you are feeling stressed and don't feel like doing exercise due to physical pain and discomfort, chiropractors can help. They can promote healing, which will increase the natural energy levels of the body by improving nerve function.

4. Manage pain better. Most of us have a tendency of relying on painkillers for injuries related to sports and running, which isn't the best practice because it is placed a "bandaid" over the area and these meds can damage the gastrointestinal system over time. With chiropractic treatment, you can expect some relief. The severity of the condition will minimize considerably, and you should be able to get on track sooner.

5. Stay fit. Contrary to popular belief, chiropractic treatments are not limited to pain management. It's often one of the best ways to stay fit. Even a regular session with your running chiropractor can make a huge difference in your fitness levels. Runners often deal with extensive physical training, which can affect their body in many ways. Even when you don't have pain, a running chiropractor can help you feel better.

Finding A Clinic

When it comes to chiropractic treatments, selecting the right clinic is important. Some of them specialize in sports injuries, while others are more concerned with corrective chiropractic. As a runner, you should choose one that offers treatment and fitness help for runners and athletes in particular. The concerned chiropractor must have experience of working with athletes and sports teams, and as required, he or she must can explain the ways that will help in improving fitness and physical form. Check the credentials of the chiropractor and ask questions about their experience and practice. Don't shy away from talking about the general treatment approach. A good and reputable chiropractor is also a good listener, the same that you should expect of doctors. He or she will understand your fitness issues before deciding and discussing treatment.

Follow The Body Clock As Per Ayurveda For The Best Results

by , in

It is quite true that today's lifestyle and stress takes a toll on people's health and emotional balance. In order to cope up with the competition and day to day work, you often tend to neglect vital issues concerning your health. This often gives rise to complex problems one which is the irritable bowel syndrome. Millions of people all over the world are prone to this gastrointestinal disease which causes distressful situations like bloating, constipation, nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain. The Western medical process attempts to treat the disease through tests, drugs, and elimination of some food items. This can be a partial cure for the disease, but definitely not a lifetime one. This gap is filled up by the Ayurvedic approach which has quite a scientific view and perspective towards this common syndrome.

Ayurveda And IBS:

The Ayurvedic treatment for IBS is infinitely hopeful as compared to any other approach. Ayurveda says that all illnesses arise due to the imbalances caused in the doshas. Most of such diseases can be cured with proper balancing therapies. IBS mainly occurs due to the imbalance of the Vata. It is a dosha which is related with air. Vata is present inside the colon and when it gets imbalanced, it creates symptoms like constipation and gas. The people whose Vata dosha are predominant are often prone to imbalances which give rise to irregular digestion patterns. The vatic types of people are quite intuitive and creative, emotionally and mentally. However, they are quite sensitive to ugliness like strong odors, bright lights, etc. They can learn quite quickly but even forget quite easily. So, their nature poses a roller coaster situation for them which make them feel exhausted and anxious. The Ayurvedic therapy aims to rebalance the Vata so that the coldness and irregularity get minimized. This can be done by changing the drink, food, through massage, herbs, and exercise.

Routine Is Important:

The wind, as you know is chaotic and changeable. Thus, in balancing the Vata dosha, consistency and routine are of prime importance. You need to be on a strict schedule of waking up and sleep, rest and exercise, snacks, meals and relaxation sessions. This systematic approach not only heals your body, but makes you feel refreshed and lively from within.

Give Time To Reduce Stress:

The vatic people get confused, scattered, disorganized and anxious quite easily. This, in turn, generates stress. They can benefit from collecting themselves and slowing down. The rejuvenation program as per Ayurveda says that diaphragmatic breathing is the basis of stress reduction, which calms down the nervous system and the body. The whirlwind inside you gets transformed into the calm breeze through this relaxation exercise. Oil massages are also extremely beneficial for balancing the Vata.

Follow The Ayurvedic Clock:

Organize your entire day as per the Ayurvedic clock which is also a vital part of the natural remedies for IBS. Every day, human body cycles through three doshas- Vata, Pitta and Kapha. One dosha is dominant at one particular time. Thus, tuning the body as per the qualities and timings of doshas can ensure harmony in life.

Kapha dosha is dominant between 6 am to 10 am in the morning. In this time, you must wake up and move the body instead of sleeping. Rigorous exercise is quite beneficial in this part of the day. You can munch on some light food this time.
From 10 am to 2 pm is the lunchtime when Pitta is dominant. You can have the biggest meal during this time as the transformative fire or Pitta is quite strong at this time. The food that goes in gets easily converted into energy and fuel.
After this is the Vata time from 2 pm to 6 pm. You can sip on hot tea, slow down, get cosy and practise some deep breathing exercises to pacify the Vata.
6 pm to 10 pm is the cycle back time to Kapha. You need to prepare to get a restorative sleep at night. Eat very light and early dinner and avoid spicy or fatty food.

The cups used in the process can be made using different materials. Different lubricants can be used on the skin and also, different cupping techniques can be applied so as to achieve the goals that are set.

Where it began

Anyone who has heard about the cupping therapy may actually think it is something that has just started recently. However, this is not true. This is not a new trend. Actually, cupping therapy is very ancient and an amazing alternative medicine option. It is a practice that has been carried out in Russia and china doe a long time.

The therapy is also well documented in the Ebers papyrus. These are records of the oldest medical texts that are available today. This method was used by Hippocrates and Egyptians. The methods have been known in all parts of Europe and Asia as well.

This cupping therapy has been embraced by so many cultures in the world. Their aim was different. There are those that wanted to deal with different kinds of internal ailments while others tried to correct all sorts of structural misalignment.

In the present day, cupping has become an amazing choice when one is dealing with stretch marks, cellulite and also offers a solution for skin rejuvenation.

Pressure

Usually, pressure is very important if the cup is supposed to work well. You can achieve some local suction when heat is used or when you use hand or mechanical pumping.

Fire cupping

This is a method that is quite popular in China and Russia, especially where respiratory issues such as bronchitis, pneumonia and colds are concerned.

In this method, a glass cup is recommended. A wick that is soaked in alcohol is lit and then placed on the inside of the cup so as to heat the air within. This leads to the expansion and heating of the air within and when the wick is removed, the cup is placed on the skin. When the air within cools, a partial vacuum is created and this causes blood to rush to the area. This means that the area receives more nutrients and oxygen, thereby facilitating the healing process.

When this method is applied, you may actually notice some cruising impressions, but they are not permanent and may go away after a couple of days. It is important to note that each one has their own kind of reaction.

It is important to note that there are options where you don't have to use fire

Understanding Cupping Therapy

by , in

cellulite cup has gained a lot of popularity. It is a something that the Chinese have been doing for a very long time and it has been perfected over time. This is a therapy that works at increasing blood circulation and the lymph flow through deep suction. You only have to combine simple movements in a circular manner. You need to make sure that the suction is localized. This way you may be able to reduce cellulite in only a matter of weeks.

Today, you don't need to go to the salon for the cupping therapy since there are cellulite cup sets that you can purchase for yourself and use at home. Some of the sets actually come with a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied.

What it is

The cups used in the therapy can be made of silicone. The cups have suction which has technically reduced air pressure. It is necessary to create a vacuum so as to make sure the skin is sucked in. So as to remove and reduce cellulite, the cups are moved on one's skin with gliding motions. Oil is used so as to lubricate the skin. it is necessary to have a lubricant so as to assist the movement of the cups. The gliding motion is meant to encourage blood circulation in the areas that are stagnant and to nourish the skin.

How it is done

When you are carrying out the cupping therapy, you start with the lubricant application. After this is done, gently squeeze the cellulite cup on the skin and start gliding. Use circular motions so as to have good results in the area affected. You can do this for some 5 minutes on each area that has cellulite. Continue with the therapy for a couple of weeks so as to see great results.

Causes of cellulite

When the connective tissues degenerate, they cause cellulite. During the degeneration, fat cells may grow and this contributes to cellulite. Cellulite appears when the excess fat doesn't get dispersed in an even manner beneath the skin and when the fat cells get bundled together unevenly. This causes the appearance of dimples on the skin. This leads to a slowed flow of the lymph.

The number one cause of cellulite is the poor circulation of blood and a reduced drainage of the lymph. The fluid retentions alter the fatty cells within the subcutaneous layer and this in turn causes cellulite.

Hormones

The development of cellulite is also highly affected by hormones. An increase or decrease of insulin, estrogen, thyroid hormones, noradrenaline and prolactin are a great part of cellulite production.

Genetics

There are some genes that are needed for cellulite to develop. Genes are to blame for some various characteristics that are closely associated with the issue. They include circulatory insufficiency, fat distribution under the skin, slow metabolism, race and gender.

Diet

People whose diet have a lot of fay, too much salt, little fiber and a lot of carbohydrates are mo

Here's Why Lacrosse Players Should Visit a Chiropractic Clinic

by , in

Most of us associate chiropractic care with back pain management, only. However, chiropractic is an extensive field of alternative care that offers benefits for everyone, regardless of age and fitness concerns. Sports chiropractic is a subspecialty of chiropractic care and is geared towards athletes. Given the typical injuries that lacrosse players suffer from, they should strongly consider chiropractic care. In this post, let's discuss the benefits of visiting a chiropractor.

Knowing More

A chiropractor is known to specialize in varied forms of musculoskeletal injuries and pain management. Sports chiropractors tend to be more focused on sports-related injuries, and as you can probably guess from the term, a lacrosse chiropractor specializes in treating common injuries in this particular sport. If you are into lacrosse, you should consider chiropractic care, which is the 'secret weapon' of better performance according to many athletes.

The Benefits

Lacrosse is a tough game that demands physical fitness and endurance. You need to be fit enough to take on the challenges on the field, and that is easier said than done. Since injuries are common and often unavoidable, you have to find ways to stay ahead. A lacrosse chiropractor knows the concerns of the players, and they can help with your particular performance issues. If you are prone to a certain kind of injury, the chiropractor will try to find the problem in your form and motion.

What to Expect in The First Meeting?

Some things to consider during your initial visit. First is establishing a concussion baseline as this is very important as a concussion or concussion like symptoms can affect your child's ability to play or perform well in school. Studies have shown this as well as the likelihood of depression over time. Your chiropractor should be able to perform this testing which should include a cognitive, vestibular (balance) and physical exam portion as opposed to some baseline testing which only includes a cognitive portion (ie. ImPACT).

Your chiropractor will want to know if you have any specific fitness concerns. They may want to ask a few questions about your form and current performance standards. Depending on your answers and a thorough and exam and diagnostics, they will decide on an appropriate treatment plan.

No matter whether you are a professional or an aspiring lacrosse player, chiropractic care will help. Injury prevention measures are always better than nursing and trying to recover from an injury - and with chiropractic care, you can prevent most of the common injuries that are endured in lacrosse. Of course, you need to find aa good and reputable clinic in your area. Make an appointment, so that you can discuss your concerns accordingly. Check online now to find a clinic in your area, and make sure that the chiropractor has expe

What Are the Benefits of Tourmaline?

by , in

ourmaline is a type of semi-precious mineral stone which is appreciated for its ability to emit healthy far-infrared rays and negative ions when heated. This is one of the few minerals that can create its own energy source because it is both piezoelectric and pyroelectric. If it is dramatically cooled or heated or put under significant pressure, the mineral can start to create an electrical charge to generate the negative ions, alpha waves and infrared photons.

The actual stone is naturally sourced in many different regions around the world. The first mineral stones were found in Sri Lanka in the 18th century, and later found in several other countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Brazil, Madagascar, and across Africa. It is naturally found in several colors with black, blue, green, amber, red and purple quite common.

Here are a few of the benefits of tourmaline:

Promotes all-round health

Tourmaline is slowly starting to grow a reputation for its wide-ranging health benefits with particular emphasis on its ability to improve the body's detoxification process. Other useful health benefits include those related to strengthening the immune system, improves circulation, increase mental alertness, and aids in relieving stress. Plus, it can have a positive cleansing effect on the nervous system to give a great calming influence.

The mineral is used in several different ways and can feature in a wide range of products. A common product is the tourmaline mat which has the ability to help stimulate cell function. Common health problems relate to cell-growth imbalances which can be relieved when the invisible energy waves are able to penetrate the body.

Positives of far-infrared rays

The far-infrared rays are a type of invisible energy wave that is able to penetrate the inner-most areas of the human body which can benefit the bones, muscles and tissues. This helps to improve blood flow because the blood carrying capillaries start to expand and helps with regeneration and oxygenation. A benefit of this is greatly improved function of any body part or organs that relies on blood for energy. The far-infrared rays produced by the stones have a similar resonance in the body that is seen with water, which is extremely soothing for the nerves.

How do negative ions benefit

Studies have shown that negative ion generators such as these minerals can be just as effective at relieving depression in the winter as antidepressants, and there are absolutely no negat

Zero Point - See the Light

by , in
Did I read or hear about "Zero Point" prior to that date, I'm not sure, I don't recall if I had... at this "point" it is irrelevant. 99% of the information I read or listen to regarding quantum physics, the field, superstring theory and/or zero point is totally over my head, but I continue to be drawn to it. In some unfathomable way it is describing what I have discovered in Reconnective Healing. It's about energy, It's about light, It's about information, It's about strings, and It's about strands. Something within me understands even if my logical mind can not grasp it. For me the understanding lies outside of my current four-dimensional existence. The knowledge, the understanding, the gentle peace resides in the void of my current experience of time and space. There are many paths to that void, that quiet knowing, the stillness of being. In my meditations I call it the crystal palace. It's the place of pure silence where all knowing resides.

Dr. Eric Pearl speaks about how this gift, this frequency came and began it's work before he understood what "It" was. With each passing moment science is now able to describe, prove and display the concepts behind these theories. Recently I was honored to be a "fly on the wall" at a Reconnective Healing Level II training. I listened as these concepts were being introduced and taught to explain the beautiful phenomenon of the Reconnective Healing Frequencies. When you experience them, feel them, interact with them they are tangible. You think that would be enough, you think that we as humans would say WOOOOOOO that is crazy, look what is happening here and be satisfied with the healing experience of the frequencies. But as humans we are never satisfied, there is an aspect of our nature that just has to prove or disprove our experiences. The experience alone says there is something significant substantial and life changing happening here. But if we don't have a "Law" that we have all agreed upon, creating the experience and outcome, then what we are experiencing may not be real. How crazy it that? That's an oxymoron. What I Am Experiencing May Not Be Real! Isn't it real because there is the experience, even if I can't explain it or logically prove it? Isn't the outcome the proof. The fear within a delusional person is quite real for them, even if we do not see what is causing their fear. It actually can form unseen chains of bondage that science can only say is imaginary. But I can assure you that those chains are a part of that persons current reality.

Dr. Pearl states that he has come to know that this is not just about the spiritual, mental, emotional and/or physical healing of an individual, it is about Life Progress. Maybe that is why I am drawn to a subject matter that my logical mind is not trained to study. Maybe somewhere in my eternal (internal) knowing I already have this knowledge encoded in my DNA. Is Life Progress a human innate instinct? Is this what keeps us seeking?

I don't know about you but I just can't get enough of this thought process. Are you being drawn in too? There is something here let's discover it together.
